| I've decided to take action against cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For LifeĀ® event right here in my community. Relay For LifeĀ® is about celebration, remembrance, and hope. By participating, I am honoring cancer survivors, paying tribute to the lives we've lost to the disease, and raising money to help fight it.

| Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this thing...I've been doing well, just working and going to classes. I'm taking Foundations of Geometry for Teachers, Intro. to Special Education, Assessing and Personalizing Reading, Practicum for Reading, Instructional Applications of Technology and Media. They've been going well. I love my practicum (which is just going to an assigned classroom (mine is for first grade on the campus laboratory elementary school) once a week to observe and practice guided reading, running records, and literacy instruction). So far, I've gotten A's on everything... (Last semester I got a 4.0 which was really exciting!) Work is going well too, the kids are adorable and sweet and fun as always. These are some pictures from yesterday at Olivia's Ballet class....the boys and I went out to the park next door to play while she was in class.
Steven and I booked a trip to Mexico in May for six days...so that will be a lot of fun! I still need to lose a few pounds before then though. My plan is to finish up this semester...work during this summer... then in August, Katie is going to kansas city so I'm going to have to move into a one bedroom apt....then in Fall '08 I'll take my methods classes....and at the end of December I'll be able to come home to KC for good...then Spring '08 (Jan- May) I'll do my student teaching, and I'm hoping to just get a job wherever I student teach. Anyway, I'm really excited to get on w/ my life...I'm so sick of school! Here are some tv shows I've been watching a lot lately: Ellen, Wedding Shows (Rich Bride, Poor Bride...My Big, Fat Fabulous Wedding) Jon and Kate Plus Eight, I Love Lucy, Everybody Love Raymond....that's about it...just in case you wanted to know... haha And some books I've read recently are Love in the Time of Cholera, Lord of the Rings, and The Chronicles of Narnia.... Here are some more pictures :) This one is from our 6 year anniversary...
These are from when Steven and I went to Petland to hold the puppies!
Christmas with Steven's stepdads side of the family...
This is the ornament I worked so hard to paint for Steven...then I dropped it :(
Christmas Dinner at home...w/ Mama, Steven, Devon, Kelsey, Brandon, and Tim
Dad and I went to Texas in Dec to visit family...Here's Aunt Betty and Grandad

New Years Eve at Derek and Ashleys... Me, Steven, Derek, Shane, Shana, Jonathan, Kelsey and Ashley
And these are from a few random parties we've gone to...
So that's all I can really think of that's been going on. Katie and I just stay in most nights and scrapbook and we go and visit our boyfriends in KC every few weeks (or they come here). We've also been trying to go to the gym as much as we can...summer's coming sooo soon! I cannot wait for Spring to get here! It feels like forever since I've gotten to just wear a t-shirt, skirt and flip flops! I have to babysit on Friday and Saturday...then next week I just have classes and work...I have to have a lesson plan ready for my practicum on Tuesday, then I have a quiz that afternoon, and an article reflection due on Thursday. Last night Katie and I watched Gone with the Wind...I absolutely LOVE that movie! I can't believe it's been so long since I've watched it... Okay, well I'm gonna go read a little and relax...I have to wake up early tomorrow to go look at one bedroom apartments for August...Bye! | | |
| Okay this is a really random post...but I've been thinking about some things and I'm curious about what you think...
So, does anyone else get really sad when Aslan dies... I know he comes back but it still gets me everytime...in the book and the movie... I also get sad when Dumbledore dies (I hope I'm not spoiling anything for anybody) ...I'm a dork i know... what can i say?
Also, I noticed today that when I'm walking to class (or wherever) I go out of my way to step on the extra crunchy looking leaves... is it just me or is there something really satisfying about doing that?
One more.... I'm a nanny for three kids and in the mornings theyre always watching Backyardigans, or Wonderpets, or the Doodlebops and those songs get stuck in my head for days! It bugs the crap out of me! Like especially "Everybody on Board, were gonna take a bus ride" If your never around kids you probably have no idea what I'm talking about but if you do let me know! I'm curious who all does this stuff!
If i think of anymore, I'll let you know!
So, let's see... School is going really well. I'm getting A's in all of my classes and finally starting to learn about stuff that interests me. I will be graduating in May '09... I have this upcoming semester (spring '08) and next fall here in Springfield. Then Spring '09, I will go back to KC and student teach (so I can hopefully get my foot in the door and just get a job right away at the school that I student teach at) then I'll graduate that May. I am soo excited to be done, but really nervous too, I'm just so used to school ya know? Hmm...what else....I've lost 40 lbs! :) I hit my goal..but I'd still like to lose a few more lbs., I'm just not in as big a hurry as I was before...now i can take my time...which is nice. Oh and I'm really into scrapbooking now, when I have the time! Steven moved into his new apartment last weekend and we went to the Chiefs game, so that was really fun (even though we lost)...Then this coming Tuesday I'm going back home again for Thanksgiving and that Saturday Steven and I will celebrate out six year anniversary :) I don't know what our plans are yet...probably nothing too big..I guess six years isn't as big of a milestone as five years and ten years. I have a really busy week this week. I have two papers due, two presentations, a math test, and I have to take the kids to school in the mornings, pick them up in the afternoon, and stay late a couple of nights b/c the mom is out of town. Ahh! I'm just so overwhelmed right now...but it's almost over! yay! Well, here are some pictures... These are from Beer Garden during the Jesse James Festival in September...
These are from Halloween....
These are from this past weekend in Kansas City...
So anyways, not much else is new...I'll try and post more often I promise!

| Let's see... Classes are over! 3 A's and 2 B's (which is the deans list. yay! :)...not too bad...all a's would have been nice though. So I've basically just been hanging around the apartment...and working. I've had visitors for the past four weekends :) Steven came the first one, then mama, tim and brandon came the next weekend....then two weeks ago my dad came down...then last weekend Steven came back down. So I've been having fun. This weekend Steven, mom, the boys, tim and i are going camping ...then the weekend after that Steven and I are going camping again. which will be good, cause last weekend we bought wayyy too much camping equipment. Then the weekend of the 8th some people are going to come down to help me celebrate my 21st birthday!! (which i can not wait for) . Then on the 14th of June my family and I are going to Ohio!!! I cant wait for that either! and thennn steven and i are going to the lake to celebrate 4th of july w/ his family (they always rent cabins for the weekend). So I think thats what I have planned for this summer...except Harry Potter!! the book and the movie come out in july!!! I am freaking out! so other than those things im just going to be working (aka hanging out at the pool/ playing mini golf/ going to the zoo/ seeing movies) and taking a Raku pottery class on Thursdays...I took Ceramics in school this past semester and loved it, i just really want to keep doing it so im taking a class. I've lost 24 lbs. so far...about 15 more to go...hopefully it wont take too long... and i think thats about all thats new in my life so far... | | |
